Wine Route

The Ruta del Vino de Alicante wants to be an alternative and differentiating wine tourism proposal in the province. The objective of the Ruta del Vino is to boost the regions of Alicante’s interior with a great viticultural tradition, as well as to promote the tourism of the interior and the set of monuments and tourist resources that treasure these municipalities that also have a typical gastronomy that offers own native dishes and products. The wine represents in our culture and in our provincial tradition a great seal of identity and an economic element of singular importance, differentiating other communities. Algueña, is part of this Wine Route, with it is intended to offer the Enoturist great wine wealth through accommodation between vineyard landscapes, visits to wineries and tasting of wines with identity of the territory, as well as tasting traditional menus and avant-garde pairings.

The “Algueña Speed Trophy” is held in our locality, uninterrupted, since 1991. Considered, currently, one of the most important speed races in Spain that take place in urban circuit, and that welcomes the categories of : 80 cc Series; 80 cc GP; Classic and Supermotard open.

The first Sunday of July, and as the start of the Patron Saint Festivities, Algueña welcomes thousands of visitors and motor enthusiasts to live, at the foot of the track, the adrenaline rush and the atmosphere that will run through its streets turned into a circuit for a day. A transformation that begins days before, with the hard work of the Moto Club Algueña organization and volunteers in the preparation and assembly of said circuit and surroundings, for the enjoyment and safety of all. Circuit that, since 2017, was renamed “Alberto Sáez Cano Urban Circuit”.

 Desde el punto de partida indicado, nos dirigiremos a través de las calles del casco urbano hacia el camino asfaltado del polideportivo, siguiendo por éste, en dirección a la pedanía de La Solana, para una vez allí, tras una vista de dicha localidad y una vez contemplado el paisaje de la zona, donde destaca la Sierra de la Espada, etc; dirigirnos a la Cañada de la Leña, pedanía de Abanilla (Murcia), continuando por el camino de "La Moleta" hasta llegar nuevamente al lugar de partida (Algueña).

Itinerariy

Itinerary

From the place of departure and through the streets of the urban center, we will go to the mountain known as “Alto del Tomillo”. Once on the “Camino de Tierra Blanca”, we will continue until we find the “Rita Barranco”, from where we ascend to the “Barranco del Aire”. The route will follow, once on the “White Earth” road, by stony, but passable terrain. This area is interesting because of the large number of caves in it. It is worth mentioning the panoramic views that, from the top, can delight us.

Itinerary

We leave from the indicated place in the direction of the “houses of Albert”, then, to cross a branch of the “Cañada Real de los Serranos”, bordering “Cerro de la Mota” and crossing the “Barranco de las Hoyas”, to Continue to the Casas de Cazorla; Where we can see the sites of Hondo and Cañaret; Then we head to the “Casa de Vitia”, emblematic building of the area for its condition of “rural mansion”. The final section, runs along a rambla until you reach “Camino de Tierra Blanca”, from which and descending, we will arrive at the place of departure. This route offers the possibility to contemplate both the points of the area and the urban nucleus of various angles, with a high visual appeal.

The route goes by the mountain called “Peña Gorda”, better known by the native population as Sierra de Algayat, site about a thousand five hundred meters east of the municipality of Algueña. The route is reached by the road that connects us with “El Cantón de Abanilla” (Murcia), turning left, by the first asphalted road that we find once left the town, where is located the “Village of the Herrada “(farm houses), and where we will see the first signs of orientation (kilometer 1), following which we will reach the ravine, through which we will reach the summit. The ascent is 2415 m. Approx. With an estimated duration of 2 h. 40 min. Approx. (Recommended for a stop of 30 min.) The length of the descent is 3115 m. Approx. And we will mount it through, with a duration of 1 h. And 50 min. Approx. During the course we can observe the abundant and varied flora and fauna of the place, as well as very steep walls that invite the practice of climbing, rappel, etc. During the trip we will pass through the interior of a ravine, with very thick vegetation, enjoying the landscape and the environmental wonders of the area. In addition, once at the top we will have an inimitable panoramic view, as we can observe: the town of Algueña, the Sierra de la Cruz, the Hill of Vitia, Mount Coto, El Cerro de la Sal, the hamlet of La Solana , The Sierra de la Espada, the Carche, Marachuelas, the Canton of Abanilla, etc.
